Potential Bonus Sites
Although we strive to include the following sites in our itinerary, we cannot guarantee a visit to these location. Rest assured that every effort will be made to accommodate this as a potential bonus site, based on favourable timing and weather conditions.
Fishing Pigs at Navutoka Beach
One of Tonga's most peculiar attractions—the renowned Tonga fishing pigs! Hopefully you can get a chance to witness the spectacle of these curious creatures as they forage in the Pacific waters, their submerged snouts eagerly seeking out delectable treats. A local favourite for their naturally savoury taste, the Tonga fishing pigs hold a special place in the hearts of the island community.
Please be aware that sightings of the fishing pigs are subject to the timing of low tide and the pigs' inclination to fish on the day, so sightings are not guaranteed.
Hufangalupe Natural Land Bridge
Discover the amazing Hufangalupe, a natural land bridge nestled on the picturesque main island of Tongatapu in Tonga. Crafted by the remarkable collapse of the roof a sea cave, this stunning formation offers a mesmerizing display as the crashing waves accentuate its rugged beauty. Yet according to local legend, Maui’s mighty spear punctured the Earth, leaving behind a magnificent gaping hole!
A very special attraction that can only be seen when there has been no wet weather, as any sign of rain can make this a muddy and dangerous destination.
Abel Tasman Landing

Step onto the historic grounds of the Abel Tasman Landing Site, a pivotal location marking the encounter between European explorers and the untouched beauty of Tonga's shores. Transport yourself back in time as Robbie unveils the tale of Dutch navigator Abel Tasman's momentous landing, which forever linked Tonga to the annals of maritime history.
Talamahu Markets

Indulge in the vibrant sights and scents at Talamahu, the bustling heart of Tonga's fresh-produce market. Meander through the bustling aisles adorned with an abundance of tropical delights showcased in traditional, woven-frond baskets.
Discover a kaleidoscope of fresh produce, from luscious branches of bananas to artfully arranged pyramids of colourful fruits. Amidst the lively atmosphere, uncover a treasure trove of affordable Tongan arts and crafts, adding an authentic touch to your market experience.
Tonga is a magical destination, but it’s a bit different to other tourist hotspots like Fiji. Here, group tours can be tricky to run – there simply aren’t the big crowds to fill them. That means many amazing experiences don’t go ahead because we don’t get the numbers we need.
So, we’ve created “Travel Mates in Tonga”, a way to connect solo travellers, couples, and small groups who’d love to join a tour but need others to make it happen.
Here’s how it works:
- Let us know the dates you are available to tour or if you see a date already with numbers you would like to join
- Once we hit the minimum number needed – the tour goes ahead, and everyone gets a great deal!
- Your personal details stay private – no one else sees your name or info.
- Groups close 14 working days prior to the tour date – so don’t wait too long to jump in!
This is your chance to make travel magic happen, meet other like-minded travellers, and enjoy Tonga in good company.
Let’s make the tour happen – together.
